Summer Hill

We arrived with great expectations. Unfortunately, some of the servers seemed unfamiliar with the menu and it took effort for us to describe what we wanted, even when we were directly reading off the menu. The second disappointment was the many items on the menu that were unavailable; and the server announced it to us with no sense of irony or apology. Should this be so even if this was the Christmas season? The food saved the day - the fried chicken, the beef stroganoff with pasta, the beef steak were all terrific, as were the chocolate stout and banana sundaes; and pear tart. In all though, we felt the overall experience didn't meet our expectations for the price we paid for the meal.

Came here for a Christmas dinner celebration with a group of friends. The food here is really good, I have to recommend everything we ate. Service was a little slow and I had to stand up and grab a service staff a couple of times. However, food was delivered fast. It also helped that I’ve been here a couple of times so we sort of know what to order. Note that there are some dishes which are recommended to be pre-ordered before your trip.

The food at Summer Hill is a mixed bag. Some dishes are well-prepared and flavorful, while others are bland or overcooked. I ordered the roasted chicken which was under cooked. The vegetables were also cooked al dente. However, I found the prok to be very gamey. It has a modern and stylish atmosphere. The service at Summer Hill is attentive and friendly. However, the wait staff is not very knowledgeable about the menu. They also made a few mistakes during our meal. I would give Summer Hill restaurant a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. The food is inconsistent, but there are some good dishes on the menu. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, but it can be a bit cold and uninviting. The service is attentive and friendly.

Came to this place with pretty high expectations as their potato pave was well reviewed. However I ended up being quite disappointed as the outside of the potato paves were slightly soggy and lacking in salt while the inside could've been more fluffy. Pasta was pretty good but nothing amazing. Best dish of the night ended up being the steak which was tender and well seasoned although my friend felt it was on the saltier side. Unfortunately for us too, the base of the sea salt dark chocolate tart had a funky taste, which tasted slightly like reused oil..

Had the signtaure roast chicken (1/2 $34), fried chicken (2pcs $20), fried pave ($15) and chocolate stout sundae ($18). They were all good. I see some posts commenting on the price of the food. They did have some rather pricey dishes in the menu but thankfully the signature on the menu here is their chicken which i wld say is really not too pricey considering the portion, taste and ambience. Really love the somewhat rustic charm. See several couples dressed for special dates here. And the food! Is good! The pave was soooo good. The chicken both fried and roasted were both tender. Roast chicken sauce was delicious and the fried chicken skin is so crispy and well marinated. Hard to pick between the two. And the sundae!! Really like that it's not the usual. The taste of the alcohol, vanilla and choc were all really distinct and well balanced out Will return.

An extremely disappointing meal even though I didn't set my expectations high when I saw the past reviews as well as the price point of the food. We ordered the duck fat fries and chicken platter for 2. While there was something different for the fries, it wasn't really fantastic considering the price. The fried chicken was also a big disappointment. At $77 for the platter for 2, you would expect some decent fried chicken but unfortunately, I think Arnold's taste better than this. The chicken was still raw at some parts touching the bones. There was none of the usual pleasure that you get from eating fried chicken. For the sides, I enjoyed the tomatoes with dish and mashed potatoes, even though the mash potatoes tasted similar to powdered mash potatoes. The service from the staff was great but I wished the food was equally good.
